NDIS Psychology can help people
to better understand and manage their own behaviours, improve relationships with others, and improve how they interact with other people, their community and environment. This can improve people’s general health, self-confidence and coping abilities.
Psychology is beneficial for clients as therapy sessions are uniquely catered to people’s personal and health goals, and are conducted in the individual’s personal environment.

Family and Community Participation
For psychology to be most helpful, it is imperative that clients incorporate the learnt coping strategies and skills into their daily lives, and this can be enhanced if the person’s family members actively participate in this process.
It can also be beneficial for other professionals involved in the client’s life (e.g. doctors, teachers or other therapists) to be made aware of pertinent information to improve how they interact and relate to the client (e.g. a behavioural plan developed by a Psychologist can help a child’s school teachers deal with agitated or disruptive behaviours).

Organising NDIS Psychology involves:
- Calling or emailing us and providing information about the client’s personal details, relevant medical history, and specific problems or issues that the client would like help with.
- We organise a free initial meeting with the client and their family at home. This meeting will go into more detail about the issues that the client needs assistance with, negotiate scheduling times, work out amount of NDIS funding, and any other requests the client may have.
- A Service Agreement is developed and sent to the client, outlining how NDIS Psychology service will be provided.
- If the client is agreeable to the terms in the Service Agreement, he/she signs the document and returns it to us (a person’s parent or carer may also sign for them).
- Once the person’s needs and requests are identified and the client is happy to proceed, we will organise the Psychologist that is most suitable for the client.
- The Psychologist will then contact the client (or their parent/carer) and organise specific dates/times for the first session, and if possible, subsequent sessions.
- Psychology sessions will then begin.
